I’m always a bit surprised when the new year starts and there’s no real transition, as if nothing actually happened. A few brief wishes for a happy new year at work, and that’s it. Maybe it’s like that because, in reality, nothing that big did happen. I liked my colleague’s response to a mandatory “happy new year.” He wrote: “Same to you—let’s make it a good year!” And that’s what really matters. What we make of every moment, day, and year, after all.

Anyway, Zagreb (and most of Europe) was hit hard by cold and frost. This is how I remember winter being. At one point during the night it dropped to −13 °C. Gas is still cheap here, and our boiler hums quietly in the background, keeping the home warm and cozy. Since I’m not participating in traffic, I don’t mind the snow much. About 30 cm of snow had fallen. Walking became a bit more difficult and slower—but I don’t do much of it anyway.

The coldest day we went for a short walk just to see if Sava is frozen (it wasn't). It was rare sunny day. Path at nasip was covered by ice and it was very easy to slip. It reminded me the very first time I walked there - soon after we moved here - It was covered with snow as well but still under construction, with building material here and there and some machinery. There weren't lots of people there that time.

On Saturday I woke up and got myself out for a last missing piece to my little project - flux for soldering. I walked about 50 minutes to get to the shop to buy flux that costed me 2.40€ and then back another 50 minutes. I did this because if I would order it, it would take another 2-3 weeks to deliver.

Later that day I cooked red curry, that we both enjoyed. Gonna repeat that recipe. In the evening I started soldering and this time it went really well. Flux was the missing ingredient. After I've done that I've made first code version and uploaded it on all 3 devices. It worked like a charm. I'll do separate blog post about this little project.

This week was good, its juts that I am very tired after work.

Not much really, recent days I mostly listen to podcasts or music.
